Shih Ka Plastic Boxes Factory is plastic packaging manufacturer and exporter including plastic folding boxes, tubes, top and bottom boxes, PP bags, soft PVC bags, die-cut plastic sheets in Hong Kong and China.
Plastic enjoy a dynamic growth in the packaging material sector, where established industry names including Shih Ka Plastic Boxes Factory are thriving on a surge of business opportunities.
"As an innovative leader in superior plastic packaging solutions, Shih Ka's customer base is continually growing, given the expansion of our brand-name presence since we opened in 1988," said the company's director Ms Brenda Ting.
Shih Ka's prolific output ranges from plastic folding boxes, tubes, top and bottom boxes, PP bags, soft PVC bags and die-cut plastic sheets. 90% of them are sold to the United States and Europe, in which they found extensive industry applications including cosmetics, confectionery, premium gifts, personal-care items and many others.
On the popularity of Shih Ka's products as the top packaging choice among clients, Ms Ting said: " Plastic is clean, light-weight and do not absorb moisture. In addition, it is break-resistant, shatterproof and free from rusting and corrosion. They are also available in various shapes and sizes to meet specific needs. In fact, it is in the area of product customization that we are famous for.
"We can ensure cost-efficient production of a standard design or the development of a new prototype, suited to specific client requirements." However, according to her, not many plastic packaging suppliers can execute OEM orders as efficiently as Shih Ka, given the complicated operational process involved.
Ms Ting elaborated: "Take Walt Disney, one of our biggest OEM clients, for example. Because of the intricate requirements they specified, we are required to exercise special care and discipline from the design to delivery stage. Each of the prototype created had to be submitted for their multi-fold approval. Along with a solid protocol of material handling procedures, strict quality control is part of our commitment to achieving a zero defect rate. Our efforts paid off when the client expressed a high level of satisfaction with the final products we delivered."
Addressing the exacting demands of high-profile customers like Disney, the company has adopted different cutting-edge techniques such as offset printing, silk screen printing, hot stamping, frosted effect printing, offset ink printing and UV embossing. This account for its high print standards regardless of the material used, be it PVC, PET and PP plastic sheets.
Besides such operational challenges, Shih Ka has to grapple with a host of external factors impinging on the industry. For instance, the Middle-East crisis recently led to a sharp increase in crude oil prices. "As most plastics are derived from petrochemical feedstock, price increases in crude oil increased our overheads substantially," said Ms Ting.
"Yet, we cannot compromise on our product quality nor pass the extra costs along to customers, at the expense of our long-term partnership with them. Instead, we have to improve our allocation of resources, while rationalizing cost on a regular basis."
Staffed with 150 workers, Shih Ka's newly completed modern production facility in China's Guangdong province occupies a total floor area of 50,000 sq. feet. It provides the expertise and technology for rapid turnaround and competitive cost advantage. "Having been in the industry for more than a decade, our manufacturing and assembly operations are quality-driven. Each and every employee from customer service through engineering, manufacturing, inspection and shipping contributes to the superior standards of the products created here", said Ms Ting. The company, which turns excess 1 million product units every month, aims to obtain the ISO 9000 certification next year. There is huge potential for growth and further expansion in terms of sustained increase in production scale and capacity.
"We are confident that our tradition of quality service, competitive pricing and diverse plastic packaging manufacturing capabilities will enable us to leverage on the new industry opportunities as we enter the 21st century."
